We have levels for all Ages 6-19

Recreational Program | U4 - U5

Germantown residents have two options to get your children started in soccer at a young age:

Park and Rec soccer run by the Village of Germantown. This is typically run on Saturday mornings and is coached by parent volunteer coaches. Visit the link below for the most up to date information and sign up for the next available offering.

Academy Program | U9 - U10

Coaches are often parent volunteers and are required to have a “Y1” license. Coaches at this age level continue to work with experienced professional club coaches to build on the fundamental skills developed at U7/U8.

Advanced ball control using all parts of your body is added while enhancing footwork. Player movement, spacing, and advanced passing and shooting techniques are introduced. The practices continue to include the entire age level to allow friends to continue to spend practices and the majority of their time playing soccer, together and having fun.

The Academy Program often includes more intense and frequent soccer training, more challenging league play, tournament, and indoor games. Season schedules are customized each year for the group.

Depending on age group size, there are often U9/U10 Recreational teams that we will field if your child is not interested in the Academy Program.

Recreational Program | U6 - U12

Volunteer parent coaches at this age level work together and with other experienced professional club coaches from MKsc to teach the players soccer fundamentals in an atmosphere of fun. A soccer curriculum was developed by a team from Milwaukee Kickers and Germantown Soccer Club.

Fundamentals include skills such as coordination and balance, first touch, proper dribbling, passing, and shooting techniques, teamwork, and soccer basics like playing goalie, throw-ins, spacing, and defense.

Teams are formed from families in the Washington County area, so new and old friendships develop while learning the team sport. Families are encouraged to take advantage of all these excellent soccer opportunities right in Germantown!

Season Structure

Teams practice once or twice per week and play about eight weekly games during the fall and spring seasons.

Practices are held at various local Germantown soccer fields. League games on weekends provide an environment that gets all kids soccer opportunities and encourages many touches on the ball. All kids play ½ game each game learning different positions. Away games are at other suburban areas.

There are tournament opportunities that have many teams and have 3 to 4 games in the same place on a weekend. There are also indoor opportunities during the winter that allow the kids to experience playing on an indoor turf field.

Select Program | U11 - U19

Select soccer is an opportunity for recreational soccer players to continue the growth of their soccer skills in an increasingly competitive environment while still placing an emphasis on development. As the name implies, players are selected annually for teams based on the abilities they demonstrate in open try-outs. Try-outs are scheduled in June for teams expecting to start play in the fall. All players try-out every year regardless of whether they have played on a select team before.

Select teams typically travel farther than recreation level teams. The WYSA league area is larger than the Kickers area. Select teams also have the opportunity to register for one or more select level tournaments which may require travel outside of our normal playing area (possibly requiring overnight stays).

All select players rostered on a team will be required to have a photo id card (aka player pass). The league prints these cards for registered players and the coach / team manager is responsible for these cards for the whole season. These are retained by the coach and inspected by referees at the start of each game. Only rostered players with player pass cards are allowed to play in a WYSA sanctioned game.

Select Tryouts

Competitive tryouts are held each summer for all Select teams. Look for more information late Spring leading into the tryout season.

Season Structure

Players within select teams will be expected to dedicate a greater amount of time to organized practice compared to recreational soccer. It is assumed that a select player has a high level of interest in growing their soccer skills and will also work to perfect skills outside of organized practice times.

Clubs within the WYSA Select League cover a wider geographical region than Kickers Rec. League so travel distances for away games can increase.

Practice time will vary based on age group and coach. A typical practice commitment is two practices per week and an eight game league schedule. Games are usually scheduled on Saturday or Sunday.

GSC has a policy that all our Select teams play a minimum of one indoor session.

Select teams usually play in at least one tournament in both Fall and Spring , but generally play in two (4 in total).
